The Scientific Subcommittee invites primary health care professionals to submit abstracts for oral presentation, poster presentation and workshop for the WONCA 2009 Asia Pacific Regional Conference.

The theme of the Conference is ‘Building Bridges’, reflecting the linkage which family physicians can establish with fellow family physicians, other health professionals and government health agencies.

Within this context, we invite submission on the following topics:

 Guideline for Abstract Submission

  1. An abstract is required for every presentation.
  2. Abstracts should not have been previously presented at other conferences.
  3. Please download the ‘Abstract Submission Form’ for electronic submission or submit the abstract online.
  4. All electronic abstract submission should be sent to abstract@wonca2009.org as document attachment in MS Word format.
  5. The abstract content should not exceed 250 words. Please use Time Roman fonts in 12 points.
  6. The format of the abstract is recommended as follows: 
    Title
    Author(s)
    Presenting Author
    Background  
    Objectives
    Methods 
    Results/Key Message
    Conclusion
  7. The abstract should contain text only, i.e. without diagrams, illustrations, tables, references or graphics.
  8. All abstracts must be submitted in English.
  9. Handwritten abstracts will not be accepted.
  10. Authors are required to declare any sponsorship and any possible conflict of interest.

Process
All abstracts are put through the following process:

  1. All abstracts will be peer-reviewed by a panel made up of members of the Scientific Subcommittee.
  2. The criteria for evaluating abstracts include:
    a) adherence to the themes of the Conference
    b) relevance to the family physicians’ work
    c) interest to an international audience
    d) originality of the work
  3. Presenting authors must be registered for the Conference when confirming their acceptance.
